Translation rates and notes

Native English speaker. US citizen. Based in Japan.
Japanese <=> English translation: Base JPY 9 per Japanese character, or US $0.22 per English word (please inquire about rates for agencies).
- Factors decreasing rate: Large or regular projects; raw text files (no formatting, etc.); favorable deadlines
- Factors increasing rate: Highly technical topics (engineering, medical, legal, financial); significant formatting work; scanned images as source material; unusual deadlines
Japanese <=> English proofreading: Generally two-thirds translation rate, for proofreading and minor rewriting.
Inquire about rates for editing, writing, subtitling, transcription, and other language services.
Minimum 2000 English words/day translation output.
